Officials allege L.A. man shot woman and himself after confrontation in another man’s home

Tragedy struck in Lancaster early Sunday morning as a man allegedly shot and killed a woman before turning the gun on himself, leaving him in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The identities of the individuals involved were not released, but they were described as a male and female Hispanic adults. The altercation began when the man confronted the woman in another man’s home in Lancaster, as reported in a statement released by the Sheriff’s Department.

Although the suspect fired a round into the home during the confrontation, no one else was injured. The suspect and the woman, who are believed to be an estranged couple, then left the home together in the woman’s vehicle. The situation escalated as they drove to East Avenue H and Challenger Way in Lancaster, where they got into a heated argument.

At around 12:30 a.m., the couple exited the vehicle and the suspect fatally shot the woman before driving away in her vehicle, abandoning her body at the scene. The suspect then made his way to Palmdale, where at 2:09 a.m., he shot himself inside the victim’s vehicle outside the home of a member of her family.

The suspect was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound and was listed in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Department spokesperson announced that no additional details, including the names of the suspect and victim, were being disclosed at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
