Former President Trump claimed that he and Willie Brown almost crashed in a helicopter and that the former San Francisco mayor told him “terrible things” about Trump’s Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.

However, Brown has refuted these claims as false.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, held a meandering 65-minute news conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, where he insulted Harris, reiterated false and misleading claims, and painted a bleak picture of the state of the U.S.

During the conference, Trump recounted a harrowing experience in a helicopter with Brown, stating, “Well, I know Willie Brown very well. In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought, maybe this is the end.”

He continued, “We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing. This was not a pleasant landing, and Willie, he was a little concerned. So I know him pretty well. I mean, I haven’t seen him in years. But he told me terrible things about [Kamala Harris].”

However, Brown has categorically denied Trump’s claims.

“I’ve never done business with Donald Trump, let’s start with that,” Brown told Bay Area TV station KRON. “And secondly, I don’t think I’d want to ride on the same helicopter with him.”

Brown also rejected the assertion that he spoke negatively about Harris to Trump, stating, “It’s just as accurate as all of the other components of what you’re asking me about. No, not accurate at all.”

In an interview with KRON, Brown expressed his admiration for Harris, saying, “I could not envision thinking of Kamala Harris in any negative way. She’s a good friend a long time ago, absolutely beautiful woman, smart as all hell, very successful, electorally speaking.”

Brown’s relationship with Harris dates back to the 1990s when he briefly dated her at the beginning of her political career in San Francisco. Criticism arose against Harris, alleging that she benefited politically from the connection.

Despite these claims, Brown did not respond to The Times’ request for comment on the matter.

It is worth noting that Trump did take a helicopter ride in 2018, but with a different Brown – then-Governor Jerry Brown and Governor-elect Gavin Newsom. The purpose of the trip was to survey the aftermath of the Camp fire in Paradise, California. There was no report of an emergency landing during this flight.
