Keith Morrison shares his thoughts on the passing of stepson Matthew Perry

Keith Morrison, the iconic host of “Dateline,” opened up about the weight of his stepson Matthew Perry’s death, revealing that the pain is with him all the time. In a candid conversation with Hoda Kotb on her “Making Space” podcast, Morrison shared, “It’s with you every day. It’s with you all the time, and there’s some new aspect of it that assaults your brain, and it’s not easy.”
Matthew Perry, best known for his role in “Friends,” tragically passed away at the age of 54 when he was found dead in his jacuzzi on October 28, 2023. The coroner later determined that Perry had died from the acute effects of ketamine.
Following Perry’s passing, Morrison revealed that he arrived at the scene with his wife and Perry’s mother, Suzanne Langford Perry. He mentioned that Suzanne wasn’t having an easy time dealing with the loss, highlighting the close bond she shared with her son in his final days.
Morrison shared, “I don’t think I’m giving away too much if I say that toward the end of his life, they were closer than I had seen them for decades.” He added that Perry and his mother were constantly texting and sharing details that most middle-aged men don’t usually share with their mothers.
Reflecting on Perry’s final days, Morrison echoed Jennifer Aniston’s comments about how happy Perry had been before his untimely death. He mentioned, “He was happy, and he said so… It’s a source of comfort, but also, he didn’t get to have his third act, and that’s not fair.”
When asked if he was surprised by Perry’s death, Morrison answered, “It was the news you never want to get, but you think someday you might.” He expressed his support for Perry as he struggled with substance abuse, from the high points of his career to the lows that led to multiple trips to rehab.
Morrison shared insights into Perry’s battle with addiction, stating, “He came to understand he’d get to a certain point, and then he knew he had to go and get treatment, and he’d accept help when he needed it.” The tragedy of Perry’s untimely death served as a reminder of the ongoing struggle with addiction.
In honor of Perry, Keith Morrison and Suzanne Langford Perry established the Matthew Perry Foundation to provide support for individuals battling addiction. Morrison emphasized the constant battle against the disease of addiction, acknowledging that it remains a continual challenge.
The legacy of Matthew Perry lives on through the foundation established in his name, offering hope and support to those in need. Keith Morrison’s heartfelt words shed light on the pain of loss and the importance of addressing mental health and addiction issues with compassion and understanding. The memory of Matthew Perry continues to inspire efforts to help others facing similar challenges.

Viola Davis is embracing turning 60.
The Oscar-winning actress celebrated her milestone with a sunny getaway in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, as seen in photos and videos shared to her Instagram on Friday, Aug. 15.
In the first photo in Davis’ carousel, she enjoys a dip in the pool with the sun beaming on her face. She also shared a picture of the words “Happy B-Day” in gold and white balloons along with the number 60.
The How to Get Away with Murder alum showed off footage of her brunch before posting a video of her loved ones singing to her as she was presented with a birthday cake topped with strawberries and sparklers. In one pic, Davis appears to show a moment of gratitude as she stands up and raises one hand in the air.
To round her post, Davis shared videos of herself and her guests dancing, a photo of life-size letters V and D near a circular balloon arch and ended with a photo of her holding up the peace sign with both hands.
Davis reflected on her birthday in the caption.
“Best-kept secret? 60 is fabulous! I couldn’t feel any more blessed or loved,” she began. “Sixty years of love, lessons, and living with my whole heart. I’m so grateful for every single birthday wish, for the incredible people I get to share this life with, and for the unforgettable moments created at @suncabovacations.”

Earlier this month, Davis shared the lessons she’s learned across the six decades of her life.
“I’m getting ready to be 60,” she told PEOPLE exclusively at the Aug. 8 AFI Conservatory Class of 2025 Commencement in Los Angeles, where she received the school’s Doctorate of Fine Arts degree, honoris causa, for contributions of distinction to the art of the moving image.

“I don’t want to be completely kumbaya this morning,” Davis added, “but little Viola is always very close by. And I always saw her as damaged, but she wasn’t. She had a lot of beautiful qualities in her. I always want to honor her.”

Kate Gosselin snubs estranged son Collin, says her kids ‘all get along’ and have ‘wonderful’ bond

Kate Gosselin gushed over how well her children “get along” after her estranged son, Collin, penned an emotional open letter, seemingly blaming her for his rift with his siblings.
“The most wonderful thing is when the kids come home for the holidays and they’re all catching up because they live in different places or go to different colleges,” Kate said as she sewed a button on son Joel’s jacket in a TikTok video shared Friday. “I get to listen to them catching up and be a part of that.”
“We cook big meals together,” she added. “It’s really loud here and I love it, I love hearing their laughter. They get along really great, and it’s really wonderful.”
The “Jon and Kate Plus 8” alum — who shares Collin’s fellow sextuplets Alexis, Leah, Hannah, Aaden and Joel, 21, and twin sisters Madelyn and Cara, 24, with ex Jon Gosselin — added that daughter Hannah “just called” her to help “get an Amazon list together of all the things that I have mentioned and people keep asking me for, so guess what? It’s on my TikTok profile thing now.”
She continued, “I know, I’m really excited because I was asking her for help. She’s really good.”
A rep for Collin did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Kate’s new video comes after Collin took to the platform on August 7 to share a letter with his siblings, insinuating their mother, 50, “forced” them “apart.”
“Born to be a team, us against the world…” he wrote atop a throwback pic of the siblings, with Adele’s song “Hometown Glory” playing in the background. On a second photo of himself in a vehicle, he wrote, “Forced to do it alone, and wonder every day what our lives could’ve looked like.”
In the caption, Collin said he felt that they were “forced apart, pitted against each other.”
“All the fame and money in the world, but what about kids being kids? I will always love them more than anything,” he wrote.
Kate subsequently took to TikTok on Monday to reveal that she’s returned to her career as a nurse amid financial pressure — and seemingly responded to Collin’s social media post.
As the reality TV star loaded her dishwasher, a follower took to the comments thread to post a screenshot of Collin’s TikTok. “He knows why..😢” she simply responded.
After Kate and her ex-husband, 48, divorced in 2009, she obtained custody of all their children and took part in a spinoff, “Kate Plus 8,” between 2015 and 2017. But after sending Collin to Fairmount Behavioral Health Institute in 2016 at age 12 for alleged behavioral issues, a family feud emerged.
Collin reached out to his father after two years in the facility, with Jon eventually obtaining sole physical custody of his son. Hannah also went to live with her father, with the remaining children apparently siding with their mother.
Jon leveled accusations that Kate “institutionalized [Collin] without a diagnosis and then created a diagnosis” in a 2019 appearance on “The Dr. Oz Show.”
In a 2024 interview with the Sun, Collin accused Kate of alleged abuse including zip-tying and locking him in a basement.
Through a lawyer, Kate strenuously denied she “intentionally” harmed him and told the Sun she “did what she did to protect herself and her family” from allegedly “troubled behavior.”
Additionally, she stated in a now-deleted social media post that Collin’s “brothers and sisters and I have not been directly involved in his life due to his history of unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies towards us.”
The “Dancing With the Stars” alum — who briefly returned to TV in a 2023 episode of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” before bowing out due to an injury — said in Monday’s TikTok that she’d experienced a “sickening” financial downfall following her volatile divorce from Jon.
“Sickening but I was drug [sic] into court constantly and that costs A TON,” she wrote in response to a fan comment about why she returned to her demanding vocation. “Sad bc my kids could have a lot more saved and I could have a retirement saved if it weren’t for lawyers :(“

Johnny Knoxville, 54, Shows Off Buff Arms While Hitting the Speed Bag

NEED TO KNOW
- Johnny Knoxville showed off his skills — and some serious biceps — on the speed bag in a new Instagram video
- The Jackass alum, 54, joked “it took me 10 damn takes” before he could “pull off this silly no look bit” when he impressively maintained his rhythm while looking away from the bag to the camera
- The actor jokes that his punches are “so light I have to tie strings around my gloves so they don’t float away”
Johnny Knoxville showed off some impressive biceps — and boxing skills — while hitting the speed bag at the gym.
The Jackass alum, 54, posted a video to Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 9, of himself taking steady shots at the bag, all while joking about his prowess in the caption.
“If boxer Nicolino Locche was known as the ‘Hands of Sponge,’ I’m the ‘Hands of Whip Cream.’ My punches are so light I have to tie strings around my gloves so they don’t float away,” Knoxville quipped.
He even called attention to a point in the video where he maintained his rhythm while casting a nonchalant glance at the camera, noting, “Hell it took me 10 damn takes to pull off this silly no look bit.”
The Sweet Dreams star continued: “I can’t even call myself the worst boxer in the gym because I’m obviously not a boxer. I play patty cakes with white mittens on. But I love training and trying to learn new things. Maybe one day I will be able to punch hard enough to pop a zit but I doubt it.”
He ended the video chuckling and waving at the camera, but while Knoxville may have ben blasé about his skills, others certainly weren’t.
“Look at those arms!💪” commented fellow Jackass star Chris Pontius.

“Is butter bean okay?” commented another — a reference to a scene in the first Jackass movie where Knoxville sparred with champion boxer Butterbean. In the 2002 comedy, Butterbean knocked the stunt performer out, prompting a delirious Knoxville to ask “Is Butterbean okay?”
Musician Jason DeVore added his own punny contribution, writing, “More like Johnny ‘Knucks’ville! 🥊 👊🏻 💪🏻 💥,” prompting the actor to reply, “I see what u did.”
