Hoda Kotb Teases Next Project with Joanna Gaines After Leaving ‘Today’

Hoda Kotb’s “repotting” era might involve some shiplap.
The former Today co-anchor took to Instagram on Wednesday, Feb. 5 to tease her new project, sharing that it will involve former HGTV star Joanna Gaines.
“Remember I was talking about repotting—- gotta take first steps,” the 60-year-old journalist captioned a new series of photos. “We have something fun cooking! Come along on the great adventure…..Stay tunedI love @joannagaines.”
In the images, Kotb is seen hugging and working with Gaines, 46, as they look around an empty office-style space, study a computer and pose with a team, all while cameras are rolling.
Kotb exited the Today show after 17 years in January, sharing that she wanted her daughters Haley, 8, and Hope, 5, to get more of her time. However, the longtime TV personality made it clear that she is not retiring, teasing a future role in the “wellness space.”
“I kind of got hooked in the wellness space, like a couple of years ago,” Kotb shared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in January. “I started doing stuff that I thought seemed woo woo and weird, and then all of a sudden as I was doing it, I was like, ‘Wait, I feel calmer, I feel better.’ ”
At the time, Kotb added that she plans to start a wellness app and a company, and the new endeavor will involve retreats and a podcast.
“We can get together, do things that I love, and when you’re done, it’s not like going to Mexico with your girls, which is fun, but this is something that when you leave, you’ll go like, ‘Oh my gosh. I feel transformed. I feel different,’ ” she told Clarkson. “So I’m in the building process of that.”

The longtime journalist previously teased that she plans to launch her new business this spring.
As for Gaines, she made a name for herself alongside her husband Chip Gaines on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. The renovation team later parlayed that success into their own Magnolia Network channel and brand.
Like Kotb, Joanna is also the bestselling author of several books. In fact, she was interviewed by Kotb several times on the Today show as well as other podcast formats prior to this mystery partnership.

Kotb officially exited the Today show on Jan. 10, after breaking the news to the staff back in September.
“As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” she wrote in a letter to staff of the NBC morning show. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”

‘White executives’ questioned Latina heritage

Rachel Zegler hit back at a “bunch of white executives” who allegedly questioned her Latina heritage when she auditioned for a role in “West Side Story.”
“There’s confusion because I don’t have a single ounce of Latin in my name,” the New Jersey-born actress — whose mother and father are of Colombian and Polish descent, respectively — told Allure for her March 2025 cover story published Tuesday.
“When I was in the running for María in ‘West Side Story,‘ they kept calling to ask if I was legit. I remember thinking, ‘Do you want me to bring my abuelita [grandmother] in? I will. I’ll bring her into the studio if you want to meet her,’” she added.
Zegler, 23, said she was puzzled at the idea of “having a bunch of white executives have you prove your identity to them.”
She added, “It’s an interesting experience being part of that diaspora in the current climate we live in. But I love being Colombian.”
In June 2021, Disney announced Zegler would star as Snow White in a live-action remake of its 1937 animated film.
At the time, director Marc Webb told Deadline he was impressed with the rising star’s “extraordinary vocal abilities” as well as “her strength, intelligence and optimism.”
The casting made headlines six months before the release of “West Side Story,” which earned Zegler a Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy film in 2022.
The “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” star got a glowing letter of recommendation from “West Side Story” director Steven Spielberg, and Disney execs ultimately backtracked and agreed she was the right fit for the role of Snow White when she sang “Waiting on a Wish” and performed other scenes.
“They saw something. Something they could invest in for the future,” she told Allure.
“The reality is, I was given a chance because I could sing. My only prayer for the future of diversity and inclusion is that we invest in and nurture talent no matter what they look like.”
“Snow White” hits theaters Friday.

Sean Lowe Kisses Daughter Mia, 5, While Showing Off Stitches from Brutal Dog Attack

Sean Lowe is feeling loved after a serious attack from his own dog.
“We love this man so much,” the 41-year-old Bachelor alum’s wife Catherine Giudici captioned a social media photo of her husband doing a kissy pose with their 5-year-old daughter Mia. Sean and Catherine also share sons Samuel, 8, and Isaiah, 7.
Showing her support, Catherine, 38, added a single orange heart emoji to the Tuesday, March 18, post and turned off the comments.
As Sean reached for his little girl, his extended arms showed fresh bite marks left by the family’s dog Moose.
On Monday, March 17, the former reality television star made a somber Instagram video as Catherine sat beside him, listening as he explained to his followers that the canine they knew and loved viciously attacked Sean twice in less than 12 hours.
“Our family has been through it the last few days but we’ll be okay. Thank you to everyone for the support. We’re very grateful,” the lengthy announcement was captioned.
Sean began the video by saying he didn’t initially plan to share what happened. However, because he often posts Moose and personal family moments on his page, he knew fans would eventually have questions.
The father of three said that on March 13, he was home barbequing with friends while Catherine was away with the kids at the mall.
According to Sean, it was a beautiful evening, so he left the doors and windows open. However, smoke from the barbeque made its way inside the home, setting off the smoke detectors.

As he began to fan the smoke with a rag, the boxer lunged for the cloth, nipping Sean’s finger.
Unfortunately, that was just the beginning.
“He shows his teeth at me and just attacks me. I don’t mean bite and then run off — like a lot of dogs do when they’re scared or defensive — I mean attacks me,” he said. “I feel him ripping into the flesh of my arm and at this point, I’m doing everything I possibly can just to fend this dog off … I know I’m bleeding badly.”
At some point, he managed to get Moose on the other side of a door, but the canine came back.
“I’m not trying to be dramatic but I honestly just felt like I am fighting for my life here against my dog,” he said.
Sean admitted he was shocked at the situation, noting that just hours before Moose had been relaxing, laying his head in Sean’s lap.

He said the bite wounds left “a pool of blood” so large he thought an artery had been ruptured.
His friends were able to take him to the hospital to get stitched up.
The following day, Sean was making arrangements to have Moose removed from the home out of an abundance of caution for the safety of his family, especially of their young children.
His parents were picking up the kids when Moose ran out of the home and attacked Sean again.

“Going through a dog attack is pretty darn traumatic. Having to re-live it less than 12 hours later, seeing that dog running straight at you, is a feeling I don’t think I ever want to experience again,” he said.
Police were dispatched to the residence to take Moose away and Sean received more stitches.
“It wasn’t Moose’s fault. I think it’s clear he experienced a lot of trauma before we got him and had something neurologically wrong where just a switch flipped and he turned into an absolute killer, which was so weird,” Sean added of the boxer. Sean and Catherine adopted Moose as a Christmas gift to their children. They shared the news at the time in a joint Instagram post.

‘I kind of hate money’

Tina Fey revealed she will never have a side hustle and admitted she judges fellow celebrities who do.
“I have a problem with rich people having a side hustle,” the “Mean Girls” star shared on Tuesday’s episode of the “Good Hang with Amy Poehler” podcast.
“If you already have like $200 million … I judge it,” she added.
Poehler, 53, encouraged Fey, 54, to change her viewpoint, saying the latter should “learn from Gen Z” and not “judge it.”
The pals got on the topic of side hustles when the “Parks and Recreation” star complemented Fey on her “incredible hair.”
“I feel like you should have a hair campaign,” Poehler said. “[I’m] always pushing you to have a glasses line. Why do you not have a glass [line]?”
Fey started to detail why she hadn’t invested in a glasses line before Poehler interrupted, saying, “You hate money?”
“I do kind of hate money,” the “Date Night” star chimed in, explaining that she is “terrible with money.”
“No, I’m not terrible. I don’t waste money, but I don’t get excited about money,” she clarified.
The “30 Rock” alum shared she only needs enough funds to feel “safe” and live.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Fey is worth $75 million.
Poehler and Fey have been friends for 30 years and have worked on several projects together, including starring on “Saturday Night Live” in the early 2000s, the 2015 comedy “Sisters” and co-hosting the 2021 Golden Globes.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Kimmel” in February, Poehler joked that she was Fey’s “second wife.”
Poehler quipped that she only got cast on “SNL” in 2001 because Fey was a cast member and she was her “nepo friend.”
“Tina got me the job 100%. Vouched for me in every way,” she said.
Fey was a writer and cast member of the show from 1997 to 2006 and Poehler from 2001 to 2008.
