- Sabrina Carpenter made a surprise appearance to bond over also being short
Live from Studio 8H — it’s Quinta Brunson!
The actress, 35, hosted Saturday Night Live on May 3, when she was joined by Benson Boone as the musical guest.
During her opening monologue, Brunson gushed about returning to the late-night comedy sketch series, before joking that she’s “proof you can do anything you put your mind to, even if people look down on you.”
“Whether it’s because of where you come from, or literally because you’re only 4’11,” she continued. “Yeah, that’s right, I’m short. It’s okay. They even tried to cast me as a kid on Abbott Elementary, and I wrote that.”
“But I love being short, and I want other short people to know the sky’s the limit. So shorties, tonight, this one’s for us,” Brunson added, before breaking into a song about her height.

Shouting out noteworthy “shorties,” including Simone Biles, Kendrick Lamar and Tom Holland, Brunson was then interrupted by Sabrina Carpenter.
The pair went on to bond over eating short ribs and reading short stories as they continued the song. Before they concluded, Brunson and Carpenter, 25, were joined by Marcello Hernandez and Dwyane Wade.
“It’s how we like our movies, and how we like our margins,” they sang. “We’ve been the same height since kindergarten. Life is just more fun when you’re fun size.”

Prince Jackson makes rare appearance, wishes dad Michael ‘happy birthday’

Prince Jackson made a rare public appearance in Las Vegas over the weekend to mark what would have been his late father Michael Jackson’s 68th birthday on August 29.
In video footage obtained by Page Six on Saturday, Prince, 29, raised his right hand on the count of three to shout, “Happy birthday, Michael!” in unison with a crowd of fans.
Prince dressed casually for the occasion at Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ONE show, wearing a black backwards ball cap and a black shirt.
He was also spotted happily chatting with attendees and seemingly signing autographs while
The King of Pop shared son Prince — along with daughter Paris, 28, and son Bigi, 24 — with ex-wife Debbie Rowe.
The former couple tied the knot in 1996 and divorced in 1999 after three years of marriage.
Prince previously paid a sartorial tribute to his father at the Los Angeles premiere of biopic “Michael” in April.
The “Beat It” singer’s eldest child wore a piece of fabric from his dad’s wardrobe in the form of a red armband over his suit.
“Michael Bush was the costume designer for my father; he designed the suit that I was wearing,” Prince told ABC News.
“And actually, the armband was made out of the fabric that my dad would always wear — the red corduroy shirt. And that was my childhood, like if I hugged my father, that was what he was wearing.”
He was also spotted back in 2024 — alongside his siblings, aunt La Toya Jackson, and uncle Marlon Jackson — at the funeral of his uncle Tito Jackson.
When speaking to ABC News about his father, Prince — who was an executive producer on the 2026 biographical film “Michael” — said the pop legend was “probably one of the most misunderstood people out there.”
The Grammy winner passed away on June 25, 2009, from a heart attack caused by acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. He was 50.
Prince told Entertainment Weekly in 2022 of his father’s death, “As long as you celebrate them, they’re never gone.”

Taylor Swift donates $50K to heroic mom who nearly died saving teens from horror car crash

Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to a GoFundMe benefiting Ashley Taunton, a 42-year-old certified nursing assistant from Connecticut who suffered life-threatening injuries after stopping to help a group of teens on a rain-soaked highway last month.
“Wishing you the best recovery possible and sending love to your family!” the “Cruel Summer” singer, 36, wrote alongside her generous donation, signing the message simply, “Taylor.”
Taunton was driving on I-95 South in Rhode Island with her youngest daughter on July 18 when she spotted three teenagers who had been involved in an accident after their vehicle hydroplaned during a severe rainstorm.
“When I see there’s somebody in trouble, I tend to want to go help,” Taunton told People of her decision to pull over.
She left her daughter safely inside her vehicle and approached the teens, who were a “little bit banged up” from the crash.
However, as Taunton attempted to help move the group out of harm’s way, another vehicle lost control on the wet roadway and came barreling toward them.
Taunton managed to push one of the teens out of the vehicle’s path before she was struck herself.
Taunton suffered a number of devastating injuries, including multiple fractured ribs, a ruptured diaphragm, internal bleeding and injuries to her liver and spleen.
She was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where she began what could be a year-long recovery process that includes extensive physical therapy.
In a shocking twist, Taunton later discovered that one of the teenagers whose life she helped save was Vinny, the son of her longtime friend Jamie O’Rourke.
Taunton recalled that her friend “just lost it” upon learning who had come to her son’s rescue.
“Oh my gosh, that was Ashley? She saved my son’s life,” Taunton recalled O’Rourke saying.
“She was so courageous to put herself in danger,” O’Rourke separately told local outlet WPRI.
A GoFundMe was subsequently launched to help Taunton, her husband, Joe, and their three children with expenses while she recovers.
Swift’s $50,000 contribution became the fundraiser’s largest individual donation.
The Grammy winner has become well known for opening her wallet to people and organizations in need over the years, frequently making sizable donations to food banks, disaster-relief efforts and fans facing financial hardships.
The frightening ordeal, meanwhile, has given Taunton a new perspective on life.
The mom said she is grateful to be alive and has learned not to take her time with loved ones for granted as she faces the long road to recovery.

Tennessee intending to rename Nashville airport in honor of Dolly Parton

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport announced Friday that they intend to name the airport in honor of Dolly Parton, moving toward a major tribute to the icon after an outpouring of public support for the beloved late country music legend’s legacy.
Lee said he spoke with Parton’s team about the proposal this week. Her team expressed appreciation for the support and is open to continuing the conversation, according to a joint announcement from the governor and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.
The proposal would place Parton’s name on the gateway to Music City, connecting the transportation hub with a woman whose music, philanthropy and deeply rooted connection to her home state made her perhaps its most celebrated figure.
“Dolly Parton’s extraordinary life is forever woven into the fabric of our state,” said Lee about the Tennessee native, who died Tuesday at 80 after a brief cancer battle. “From her rural mountain home in East Tennessee to global stages, Dolly carried the Volunteer Spirit with her.
“At a place where Tennessee welcomes the world, it is fitting that Nashville International Airport would bear the name of our state’s favorite daughter and greet travelers with the enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith, and kindness.”
The announcement comes amid a groundswell of support for renaming the airport after Parton. A Change.org petition titled “Rename Nashville International Airport to Dolly Parton International Airport” had accumulated 155,501 verified signatures, according to the petition page.
The petition was originally launched in January 2025 by Lydia Popovich and Dan Dion, who argued that Parton’s influence extended far beyond the music that made her famous, pointing to her philanthropy and her Imagination Library literacy program.
Following Parton’s death this week, the organizers said tens of thousands of additional supporters signed the petition and renewed their effort to have Nashville’s airport carry her name.
The campaign has also drawn support from Tennessee officials. State Rep. Todd Warner said in a response published on the petition page that he would introduce legislation supporting the change.
“Yes I will definitely introduce legislation to rename the BNA airport Dolly Parton International Airport! Thanks, TW,” Warner wrote, according to the response reproduced by Change.org.
Nashville Council member Russ Bradford also said he would sponsor a resolution asking the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority to consider the change, while stressing that the authority, rather than the council, has the ultimate say over the airport’s name.
“I’m proud to sponsor a resolution asking the Metro Nashville Airport Authority to consider renaming BNA to Dolly Parton International Airport,” Bradford said in a response published by Change.org.
The tribute carries particular resonance because Parton had previously resisted efforts to put her own legacy on a pedestal.
In 2021, Parton asked Tennessee lawmakers to withdraw a bill that would have allowed a statue of her to be erected on the grounds of the state Capitol.
“I am honored and humbled by their intention, but I have asked the leaders of the state legislature to remove the bill from any and all consideration,” Parton said at the time in a post shared to social media.
She explained that she did not believe such an honor was appropriate while the country was confronting larger challenges, but left open the possibility that Tennessee might honor her in that way someday.
“Given all that is going on in the world, I don’t think putting me on a pedestal is appropriate at this time,” Parton said. “I hope, though, that somewhere down the road several years from now or perhaps after I’m gone if you still feel I deserve it, then I’m certain I will stand proud in our great State Capitol as a grateful Tennessean.”
The proposal to rename the airport will be discussed at the Metro Nashville Airport Authority’s next meeting on Sept. 17, according to their release.
