NBA Summer League Best Bets: Picks & Predictions for Monday, July 13
The 2026 NBA Summer League is in full swing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Well, as the Vegas Sports & Information Network, it’s only fitting that we’re covering something that’s taking place right in our backyard. With that in mind, we’re going to be doing some daily best bets for the action in Sin City. Keep reading for our Summer League picks and predictions for Monday, July 13.
PARLAY: Pistons ML vs. Knicks & Bulls ML vs. Jazz (+161)
The Pistons are still playing for something in Vegas, so they should be able to beat the Knicks. New York has been one of the worst teams in the event thus far, and I don’t think the Knicks will have any answer for Ebuka Okorie. Detroit plays super early in the day, and that also happens to factor into what I’m doing with the other game. Chicago gets a Utah team that fell to 0-2 with a loss to Los Angeles on Sunday, meaning the team has very little incentive to go balls to the wall in this game. I have a feeling the Bulls will close as favorites, so I’m hoping to have a +161 to play around with before that one tips.
Hawks -4.5 (-110) vs. Celtics
With a future on Atlanta to win the Summer League, a play in this game probably isn’t necessary. If the Hawks are going to make the knockout stage in Vegas, they’re going to need to win this game. However, I do view this as one they should win somewhat convincingly. While I liked Boston to beat Charlotte yesterday, this Atlanta team is way more talented, balanced, and organized. The Hawks will have the best guard on the floor in Kingston Flemings, plus they have a serious advantage in the frontcourt. They just need to be able to contain Hugo Gonzalez, if the talented wing plays. I’ll take my chances. Atlanta has been the best team in the Summer League, yet we haven’t even seen this team shoot well from deep.
PARLAY: Grizzlies ML vs. Mavericks & Timberwolves ML vs. Trail Blazers (-115)
It seems as though I was wrong about Dallas. I thought the Mavericks would be set in the backcourt, but their guard play has been suboptimal. This Dallas squad is now 0-2 and has no shot at making the semifinals. That said, motivation should be lacking, while Memphis is 1-0 and needs a win in order to get into the knockout stage. The Grizzlies also happen to have the more talented roster, so they should take care of business. Then, in the second game, I’m hoping Joan Beringer suits up after having missed last game. If he does, Minnesota has the size to keep Portland’s big frontcourt in check. The Timberwolves also have the advantage when looking at guards and wings.

Dust storms pose risks with the monsoon to ramp up in Phoenix area
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Dust is expected to linger Saturday morning with the possibility of a dust storm that night, raising health concerns for people with respiratory conditions, children and the elderly.
Arizona’s Family Chief Meteorologist Royal Norman said the lack of rainfall this season could make this year’s dust storms worse than usual.
“We think that this year, because it’s been a long time since we’ve had any rain, and our monsoon has not really gotten here, our monsoon rains, the dust storms might be with us for a couple of weeks, even after we get a day or two of rain,” Norman said.
Dust storms carry more than dirt, according to Dr. Michell Lozano Chinga, a pediatric allergist and immunologist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
“When dust passes through, there is not only dust, there are other particles,” Lozano Chinga said.
Those particles include pollutants, pollen and fungal spores — some of which can cause Valley Fever.
“There are particles that kind of stay only in your nose. There are particles that can go down to your lungs,” Lozano Chinga said.
A recent CDC report shows Valley Fever cases approximately doubled from 2005 to 2022. Maricopa County recorded the most cases in Arizona, followed by Pima and Pinal counties. Preliminary data counts more than 8,500 cases in Maricopa County last year and nearly 3,300 so far this year.
Health experts say Valley Fever symptoms vary widely — from no symptoms at all to coughing, wheezing or difficulty breathing. In severe cases, the infection can spread beyond the lungs.
“There are some patients which may have some higher risk factors to get more severe and disseminated infections that can affect not only the lungs, but sometimes muscles, the brain and other parts of your body,” Lozano Chinga said.
Maricopa County health officials say most Valley Fever symptoms will resolve on their own within a few months without treatment. In severe or life-threatening cases, doctors will likely prescribe antifungal medication.
Dr. Lozano Chinga said when a dust storm approaches, people should get inside as soon as possible, close and secure windows, and turn on air purifiers if available.

Doomsday’ Cast Photo Is A Nightmare
While we still have not seen anything close to a full-scale trailer for this winter’s Avengers: Doomsday, promotion is starting to trickle out. This week, that included the first official cast art for the film, featuring nearly all the major characters in this new Avengers assembly. Or rather, a number of Avenger-ish groups stuck together.
It’s awful. The art is awful, to start with, but even though we knew who was in the cast, seeing them in one place compared to the last four Avengers movies in the “good old days” of the MCU is pretty brutal. It’s hard to even know where to start here, but there are issues with almost every aspect of this.
Steve Rogers – Chris Evans is back as a man in a black T-shirt holding Mjolnir, one of the best moments from Avengers: Endgame turned into a permanent part of his character because he gave his shield and uniform away. He shouldn’t be back in the first place, and he certainly shouldn’t look like this.
Sam Wilson Captain America – It is extremely clear that Marvel does not trust Anthony Mackie’s version of Captain America to lead this film after Brave New World, with him perhaps being the fourth- or fifth-highest-profile character in the movie, at best, when previously Steve and Tony led the whole thing.
Captain America: Brave New World
Marvel
Doctor Doom – Speaking of Tony, we still have the beyond weird situation of a second main Avengers actor returning, Robert Downey Jr., to play Doctor Doom. This has never stopped being weird as everyone waits for some sort of explanation for that, if there even is one, or if he’s just playing two huge characters in the MCU that don’t actually have anything to do with each other. Both answers would be strange.
The Fantastic Four – The group and especially Reed seem to be getting a top billing, when previously they’ve only been in a single movie that didn’t exactly light the fanbase on fire, no Human Torch pun intended.
Thunderbolts – They are coming off a good but dramatically underperforming movie, which means few audiences saw it. Yelena is being given a big role, as Kevin Feige has said, but she will never be Black Widow.
Thunderbolts: Not bad
Marvel
Thor – Well, at least one OG Avenger is back without any weird changes. That said, he is coming off a truly awful movie with Love and Thunder. Also, why can’t he grow his hair back by now?
Ant-Man – His movies got progressively worse as they went, and Quantumania could actually be the single worst MCU movie. He feels tacked on when so many of the biggest names are missing.
Shang-Chi – Love him, great character, great performance. And he has only been in a single movie that released five full years ago in 2021.
Shuri and M’Baku – Obviously not their fault, but losing Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa has really hurt the Wakanda storyline, and you can see from how big they are on this page how important the film is projecting they will be.
FOX X-Men – God, where to begin? We have said goodbye to this era of the X-Men probably twice already. Professor X has died three times. Channing Tatum’s Gambit was supposed to be a one-off joke in Deadpool and Wolverine, but now he’s actually here for real. They are missing some of the most key team members, from Jean Grey to Storm. Just a nightmare.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Marvel
Who’s Missing – Who isn’t there is practically as big of a problem as who is. Fans are surfacing old concept art from the original Kang Dynasty storyline, reminding us that this version of the film is missing the likes of Captain Marvel, Vision, Doctor Strange and Hawkeye (Kate Bishop). But obviously it goes far deeper than that. No Hulk, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, War Machine, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, any of the Guardians, any of the Netflix Defenders like Daredevil, who is now at 40+ hours of screen time in the MCU after four seasons of his TV series.
I would argue probably 90% of those are more important to include than 70% of the existing Doomsday cast. So much of the problem there is that those characters are often A) lesser names and B) ones that have only been seen once or twice before this film, at best, when so many other characters have a decade or more of time investment behind them. This feels awful.
