Kristin Cavallari calls cutting father out of her life the ‘best decision’ ever made

Kristin Cavallari has no regrets about cutting off ties from her father, Dennis Cavallari, after he “crossed the boundary” with her three children.
“I mean, honestly, and this might sound messed up to some people, but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made, cutting my dad out of my life,” the Uncommon James founder told People in an interview published Monday.
“Such a weight has been lifted from me,” she continued. “There’s not one day where I miss him. I don’t know if it was two or three years ago, but I mean, I was an adult, let’s say I was 35. It was 35 years of buildup to that point.”
The fashion designer, 38, shares daughter Saylor, 9, and sons Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, with her ex-husband Jay Cutler. They tied the knot back in 2013, and divorced in 2020.
The “Laguna Beach” alum did not elaborate on what might have transpired between her father and her children.
She did, however, divulge that she’s “happy” with the decision to cut him out of her life, and that it “was something that I had been wanting to do for a long time.”
“He crossed the boundary with my kids,” she told the outlet, adding that he “couldn’t even apologize” following the event in question.
“Like, you’re just gaslighting me,” she continued. “I don’t have time for that anymore. If someone’s not bringing you joy, if people are only bringing you hurt and sadness and anger, what is the point? Even if it’s a parent, life’s too short.”
This isn’t the first time the mom of three has voiced her dissatisfaction with her father. In a December 2023 episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Kristin called him a “narcissist.”
“I cut my dad out of my life about two years ago, which has honestly been the best thing I’ve ever done, really and truly,” she told psychologist Dr. Sherrie Campbell. “I actually didn’t even realize that my dad was a narcissist until I was an adult.”
She also said that, while she had her own issues with her father, it took the incident with her own children to finally push her over the edge.
“I was always like, I can take it. You know,” she said at the time. “I can take the abuse. I have my whole life. But it’s like, when you start now messing with my kids — I’m not doing it.”

Jenner has leaned into her role as a courtside girlfriend this basketball season. Just last week, she made a joke that had fans cracking up after attending the Thursday, May 29 playoff matchup between the Knicks and Pacers with Chalamet, 29, at Madison Square Garden.
The mom-of-two reposted a TikTok shared by Max on Friday morning that referenced a Sex and the City scene where Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is relying on the Knicks to win in order to have sex with her boyfriend.
“And when did we start caring about basketball?” Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) asks in the clip that Jenner reposted.
“Don is obsessed,” Samantha replies, referring to her boyfriend at the time. “I don’t get laid unless the Knicks win.”
Jenner’s repost of the video sent fans into a frenzy, as it offered a rare insight into her sex life with Chalamet, whom she has been notoriously private about since they were first linked in April 2023.

The game was also a reunion for her and her longtime BFF Jordyn Woods, who is dating Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns.
After the Knicks won, she and Woods, 27, celebrated courtside and Jenner told her friend, “We’re wearing the same outfit every time!” in a video captured by ESPN.
Woods then leaned in to whisper something in Kylie’s ear, while Chalamet, 29, stepped into the frame and yelled, “Let’s go!” as he showed off his Knicks hat.
Unfortunately for Jenner, Chalamet and other Knicks fans, the team lost on Saturday, May 31, 125-108. The Pacers move on to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals, which begin on June 5.

The runway show comes after the former LSU Tigers gymnast revealed in an Instagram post on May 19 that she had a fractured kneecap during her 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover shoot in Bermuda.
“Fun fact, I was shooting on a fractured kneecap, so poses like this and the cover shot kind of hurt, but it was honestly so worth it,” she said in the video.

The avulsion fracture in her kneecap left her unable to compete at the final home meet for the Louisiana State University Tigers in March.
Having officially retired from gymnastics, PEOPLE asked Dunne about her future plans in a red carpet interview at the 2025 SI Swimsuit launch party on May 15.
“I’ve always said ‘no’ to opportunities way more than I’ve said ‘yes’ — so, I’m excited to do everything and be able to travel and to be able to do things on my time because it’s always been around gymnastics,” she told PEOPLE.
When quizzed if she’s considering acting, she added, “I don’t know, I don’t know! Stay tuned!”
