All About Olivier Rioux’s Parents, Jean-François Rioux and Anne Gariépy

Olivier Rioux‘s heights might be record-breaking, but he doesn’t feel so different around his parents — Jean-François Rioux and Anne Gariépy — who are both impressively tall.
At 7’9,” Olivier is the world’s tallest male teenager, according to the Guinness Book of World Records in 2022. In kindergarten, he was 5’2,” and by age 8, Olivier towered at 6’1″.
“We’re still not 100% sure why I’m so tall — after investigation, doctors could only explain it with the genetics that my family has,” he told Guinness. “My father is 6’8, my mom is 6’2, and my older brother is 6’9. So we’re a pretty tall family!”
Olivier grew up in the Montreal suburb of Terrebonne in Canada, where he was an active child. “I have been playing basketball since I was five years old,” he said. “The opposing team would often question my age because even as a five-year-old, I was much taller than the other kids!”
Today, Olivier is a freshman playing center for the University of Florida’s Gators, who are facing off against the Auburn Tigers for the NCAA semifinal on April 5. Even though he won’t be playing in the game, he told ESPN how excited he was that his team made it to the Final Four.
“I think it’s part of the dream for everybody in the sport, and it’s amazing for me to be a part of this,” the 19-year-old college athlete shared.
With Olivier breaking records on and off the court, here’s everything to know about his parents, Jean-François Rioux and Anne Gariépy.

The following fall, Olivier spoke to the Associated Press and revealed that he gets asked questions about his height “every day.”
“You don’t have a single three seconds to yourself when you’re outside, which I was fine with because my brother and my dad are tall,” he told the outlet in October 2024. “As a family, we used to go out, and that’s just how it was. You can’t change that because people are curious.”

During his interview with W5, Jean-François was asked what Olivier was like, to which he replied, “He’s very cool. It’s like he’s just surfing around and chilling with people, he’s very friendly. Every day in his life, he has to figure out that he’s taller than everyone.”
When asked if he was afraid of his son becoming “a spectacle” because of his height, Jean-François advised people, “At some point, if you see him, you can say ‘Hi,’ you can say ‘Hey, how are you, big guy?’ But don’t be rude.”
“Don’t think you’re the first one of the day asking how tall he is,” he continued. “Be respectful, but Olivier likes it, so it’s okay. It’s important to respect that for Olivier, but I’ll also respect the fact that there [are] always people asking.”
In an April 2025 interview with CBS Sports, Olivier explained that his dad was his “model” when dealing with his height.
“Whenever we were at the mall or whatever … everyone would come up to us and say, ‘Oh my God, how tall are you? Even your child is tall.’ But it was always respectful,” Olivier recounted.

‘Love Island USA’ host Ariana Madix reveals which cosmetic treatments she gets

“Love Island USA” host Ariana Madix is coming clean about her cosmetic treatments.
“I just did my first laser treatment. I’ve been very interested in that for a long time. I keep things at a minimum,” Madix tells Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy in an exclusive interview.
She goes to reveal that she does get Botox “every six months or so.”
“I just got a little bit in my lips because they were getting a little crusty on the inside. I never go more than 0.5 at a time,” she adds. “Because I never want to look crazy.”
Madix, 39, explains that she started getting laser treatments to address skin laxity.
“Fine lines, I don’t give a s–t about, but skin laxity is something I’ve been dealing with,” she says.
Due to that, the “Vanderpump Rules” alum says she was told by professionals that she’s “not even a candidate” for facial fillers because she doesn’t “have the structure to support it.”
“That’s why we started on the lasers,” she elaborates. “So I will report back after I’ve had all the things.”
In addition to her cosmetic treatments, the former Bravolebrity reveals that she drinks “insane amounts of water, like 100 ounces a day” and “constantly” goes to the gym.
Madix acknowledges there is “a lot of pressure” when it comes to aging but tries to keep everything in perspective.
“I feel like you don’t want to be preoccupied with it too much,” she says. “But at the same time, if you feel good about doing something, go ahead and do it. At the end of the day, it’s nobody’s business.”
“I know in the industry, I am in a position where that stuff does matter, but I also know … I’m going to get older no matter what. … If you don’t age, you just die. I’d rather be aged than dead,” Madix adds.
Of course, this isn’t the first time the reality star has detailed her cosmetic enhancements.
While she isn’t doing facial fillers anymore, she confessing to getting filler in her chin and lip last July after a fan speculated she had a plethora of work done.
“i’ll tell you what i’ve had! you’re partially correct,” Madix commented in response at the time.
“tox in 11’s, outer brow, and my neck. ellevate for my neck in 2019 by @theneckdoctor. minimal lip filler bc my face is too small to handle very much and filler in my chin.”
“absolutely no filler anywhere else and def no bleph yet ❤️❤️,” she added. “hope this helps! i’ll keep yall posted if i do anything else.”

- The singer performed on the American Idol season finale Sunday, May 18
- Her next projects include her EP Nashville Canyon, Pt. 2 and a cameo on Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair
Jessica Simpson used a few not-so-common tricks to help combat her nerves for her first television performance in 15 years.

Disney/Stewart Cook
“Oh, my God, I was dying. I can’t even tell you how long it’s been since I’ve been that nervous. Like, I had to put hairspray on my feet to stand still, like, not that it actually keeps me put, but, like, my feet were sweating. I’m like, my feet don’t sweat,” she told the outlet.
Simpson continued, “I just kept telling myself, ‘Do not cry. Do not cry. I know this is a big moment … do not cry.’ And then I see my dad, like, up in the corner, and I’m like, ‘Ah, I’m going to cry. I’m going to cry. Do not cry. Just sing your songs. Just sing your songs.’ ”
The “Sweetest Sin” singer admitted her more than a decade absence has been “a really long time.”
For her return, she was joined by former contestant Josh King. The two did a duet of her 2005 song, “These Boots Are Made for Walkin,’ ” which she recorded for the Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack.

“The last time was a Christmas song, so that’s easy,” she said of her prior performance years ago.
Now, the star has a new EP, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, with part two set to arrive this summer.
“It is so much a part of my soul, and so to sing a song off of that I felt naked, to be honest, like, it was very bare and raw and very vulnerable,” Simpson said of the new music.
As for how her little ones feel, Simpson said she can’t wait to hear their reaction.
“I haven’t gotten to talk to them yet, but I’m so excited to talk to them because they’ve never seen me sing live like that,” the proud mother said during her interview with Extra.

Simpson and her estranged husband Eric Johnson are mom and dad to three kids: Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 13, Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae, 6.
The former couple were married for 10 years before announcing their split on Jan. 13.
In addition to getting back onstage, the Employee of the Month actress added that she’s also back in front of the camera.
“I did an episode of ‘All’s Fair,’ and what a show! I mean, great cast. It is so fun,” she said. “I didn’t want it to end, like, I was so grateful that Ryan Murphy thought of me.”

She described her role on the show as “very crazy.”
