NEED TO KNOW
- Bindi Irwin and her mom Terri Irwin had to miss the annual Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas on May 10 as 26-year-old Bindi experienced a ruptured appendix, requiring surgery
- “She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” Bindi’s brother Robert Irwin exclusively told PEOPLE at the event
- Bindi previously shared that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis in March 2023 after more than 10 years of debilitating symptoms
Bindi Irwin was forced to miss the annual Steve Irwin Gala this year, with her brother Robert Irwin revealing that she is in the midst of a health emergency.
At the event in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 10, Robert, 21, shared that his older sister, 26, was undergoing surgery after her appendix ruptured.
“She’s going to be OK, but surgery — out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” Robert exclusively tells PEOPLE, adding that their mother, Terri Irwin, 60, would also be missing the gala — held in honor of late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin — to help Bindi during her recovery.
“She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes,” the Crikey! It’s the Irwins star continues, adding, “Health is so important — it really is.”

“Bindi has become an incredible advocate for women’s health, particularly, and I think it’s really important to prioritize getting help,” Robert tells PEOPLE of his elder sister.
Bindi first revealed her endometriosis diagnosis on Instagram in March 2023, before opening up in more detail about her health journey in a PEOPLE cover story in August that year. The following May, Bindi became the first international figure to receive the 2024 EndoFound Blossom Award at EndoFound’s 12th Annual Blossom Ball in New York City.
Robert tells PEOPLE that Bindi was initially determined to still come to Saturday’s gala.
“She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, ‘Nope, I’m just going to tough it out, I’m going to go for it,’ ” Robert says. “But the surgeon said, ‘No, your appendix is going. That thing’s gotta come out.’ Health has to come first.”
“She’s very sad. She’s devastated that she and Mom can’t be here, but I know she’ll make a speedy recovery,” he adds.
According to the Mayo Clinic, appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix that often results in a patient needing to have their appendix surgically removed. A burst appendix, also called a ruptured appendix, spreads infection throughout the abdomen and can sometimes be life-threatening.
Just one day prior to the gala, Bindi shared new photos on Instagram of herself with her mom and brother in Las Vegas as they prepared to attend the gala in honor of her late father.

“Khaki by day — Bellagio chic by night! ✨ Here in #LasVegas for the #SteveIrwinGala raising funds and awareness for Wildlife Warriors,” Bindi, 26, wrote in the caption. “Supporting conservation and remembering Dad’s extraordinary legacy. Enormous gratitude to everyone for your support as we continue to do all that we can to protect wildlife and wild places for the future generations.”
Back in February, Bindi gave another update on her health after more than 10 years of “being really, really sick” before she was diagnosed with endometriosis.
While speaking on the Feb. 3 episode of the A Life of Greatness podcast with host Sarah Grynberg, she recalled dealing with hidden health issues for more than a decade.
“The only people that knew that I was incredibly unwell … my husband, my mom and my brother, and behind closed doors I was struggling to do anything and everything,” Bindi said at the time, referencing her mom, brother and husband Chandler Powell, 28, with whom she shares 3-year-old daughter Grace.
She said endometriosis “is an enormous problem for so many people and it’s not being talked about a lot.”
“I went for 10 years undiagnosed because doctors really didn’t know enough, they diagnosed me with a million other things, like IBS, or hormones or ‘It’s just part of being a woman,’ ” she shared. “The symptoms continued to snowball, and it took me such a long time to find help and it’s a story that so many women and girls know all too well.”
Elsewhere in the podcast conversation, Bindi said: “I’m so grateful to be on the other side of surgery. There’s no cure for endometriosis, but if you’re able to get surgery you have a better shot at life. Maybe in five of 10 years, I’ll have to get another surgery, but for now, it’s all gone, which I’m very grateful for.”

Carrie Underwood responds to Nikki Glaser feud rumors

Carrie Underwood promises there is no bad blood between her and Nikki Glaser.
Last month, online chatter revved up after the comedian appeared on “American Idol” as a guest judge, with fans speculating that there was tension between Underwood and Glaser.
One fan wrote on Facebook, “Very obvious. Esp from Carrie. We have the extremes of 2 women. Carrie, no matter how talented, ever since I saw her on American idol, I pick up a really cold vibe,” according to the Daily Mail, while another wrote on X: “The tension between Carrie and Nikki is KILLING me lmaoo.”
Glaser filled in as fourth judge for the show’s first-ever Taylor Swift-themed night on April 27.
Fans were convinced that Underwood did not like sitting next to Glaser, a huge Swiftie, and that Underwood scowled whenever Glaser spoke.
The country singer, 43, dismissed the theories on Sirius XM’s “Highway Mornings with Cody Alan” earlier this week, insisting that there was “no beef” between her and Glaser, 41.
Alan mentioned fans’ reactions, suggesting that some people like stirring up trouble.
“I’m like, ‘Do you know Carrie Underwood?’ Like, she’s never going to be a mean person,” he said. “They want to cause a catfight over the smallest little thing.”
The “Before He Cheats” songstress responded by saying she’s “very used to that,” and gushed about Glaser.
“And I think she did such a great job because it’s not an easy thing to come sit behind that desk and try to think of constructive things to say,” she said. “And I don’t know, I feel like she did everything wonderfully. But no, there’s no beef. I have no beef.”
Underwood has developed a thick skin as a judge on the long-running show.
She clapped back after being booed by the “American Idol” audience during a show last March.
“Boo me. I don’t care,” the country singer wrote on X while the episode was airing.

‘Summer House’ star Ciara Miller accuses West Wilson of sleeping with ‘RHONJ’ alum Jennifer Fessler

Ciara Miller accused her ex West Wilson of sleeping with “Real Housewives of New Jersey” alum Jennifer Fessler after the latter defended Wilson in an interview with Page Six.
The drama recently played out on threads, where a social media user recapped what Fessler said at Vulture’s The Masterminds of Reality TV event on Thursday.
“Former RHONJ ‘friend of’ Jenn Fessler was asked by Page Six about the Summer House scandal tonight and said this about West: ‘[West] is the cutest, sweetest golden retriever puppy dog. He does not mean any harm. He didn’t mean it. He’s just trying to have a good time. He doesn’t wanna hurt anyone. Give him a break.’ Girl…”
Miller replied on the platform, “lol, because they slept together too.”
One person wrote, “Ma’am! I beg your pardon?!?! Ain’t that old lady married? Oh he got a type,” to which Miller replied, “That’s what I thought….” alongside a cartwheel emoji.
Screenshots on Instagram and X have since gone viral, and fans were stunned to see Miller’s comments.
“Ciara has entered her IDGAF stage and is about to burn this s–t to the ground!” one person remarked on Instagram, while another wrote, “I just laughed the most nervous laugh out loud.”
A third wrote, “Ciara freaking Miller 😮 hahahahahaha SAVAGE.”
Fessler — who has been married to husband Jeff Fessler since 1999 — exclusively told Page Six on Friday, “It’s flattering that anyone would think someone who slept with Ciara Miller would be interested in sleeping with me.”
Reps for Miller and Wilson did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Drama erupted between the “Summer House” co-stars in March, when Wilson, 31, and Amanda Batula, 34, released a bombshell joint social media statement revealing their secret romance — in spite of West’s previous romance with ex Miller, 30, and Batula’s former friendship with her.
“It was never our intention to purposely hide anything,” they wrote in a joint statement on March 31. “Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”
Miller was seen huddled outside an Hermés boutique just minutes after the statement was publicly released.
A source divulged to Page Six in April that Batula and Wilson’s co-stars, including Batula’s estranged husband, Kyle Cooke — are “pissed” and “disappointed.”
Meanwhile, Mia Alario questioned the pair’s romance timeline after they claimed they’d become involved in February.
During her appearance on “WWHL” last month, the “Southern Hospitality” star claimed she’d been on a date with Wilson in September, and that he was already spending time with Batula.
“I met Amanda at BravoCon [in November] and she actually told me that they pregamed our date at his apartment,” she told Cohen during the appearance.
“At the time, I was like, ‘Oh, you’re such a good friend. That sounds like such a good time,’” she added.
Alario also alleged that Batula told her she gave Wilson “some advice and some tips” before their date.
“I was like, girl, did we get the same tip or what? Damn. I don’t know,” Alario said, calling their relationship “a messy situation” and saying she doesn’t “want any part of that at all.”
At Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea Live event last month, Alario said she wasn’t worried about Miller.
“Ciara, if she was ugly … I’d feel bad for her,” Alario quipped. “But she is one of the baddest bitches on Bravo.”

Heidi Klum worried Anna Wintour wouldn’t approve her Met Gala 2026 prosthetics

Heidi Klum brought the Halloween spirit to her Met Gala look.
Dressing as an actual marble statue — prosthetics and all — the model channeled the “Veiled Vestal,” Raffaelle Monti’s sculpture that’s currently housed in London’s Chiswick House.
Though Klum certainly took her interpretation of the dress code, “Fashion is Art,” to the next level, she revealed to The New York Times that she was concerned Anna Wintour — who has co-chaired the event since 1995 — wouldn’t appreciate her take.
“I was most worried that she won’t like it,” Klum told the publication, but revealed that she asked the Vogue head honcho herself while inside the event.
“She said yes,” the supermodel confirmed.
Much like Klum’s famed Halloween party, which sees the “Germany’s Next Top Model” host undergo a wild transformation into costume every October, “she planned the look for three months,” according to the Times.
Though “it took her five hours to get ready,” Klum admitted “it was the best her body had felt at the Met Gala.”
Confusing as that might sound, a quick glance towards the floor might explain a few things, as Klum stood in flats while much of the rest of the party teetered around in sky-high heels.
“For once, my feet don’t hurt,” she added, “wiggling her marble-like toes in flat sandals.”
Though Klum’s first Met Gala appearance was 23 years ago, this year only marked her sixth appearance at the fashion-centric event.
