Le’Veon Bell Ordered to Pay $25M After Cousin’s Sex Abuse Claim

Le’Veon Bell was ordered to pay $25 million after his cousin filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him in March 2024, but he claims he just found out about the case.
According to a complaint obtained by PEOPLE, the former NFL star, along with his brother, La’Vonte Bell, are accused of engaging in “ongoing incestual relations” with his cousin when she was “six to seven years old” that continued “through at least 2017.”
The complaint alleges that Le’Veon “continuously engaged in these encounters throughout Plaintiff’s minority,” including “during his frequent returns to central Ohio during his college years and beyond.”
“None of these encounters were consensual and they happened with such frequency to habitualize Plaintiff to the abuse,” the complaint alleges, claiming that his cousin “suffered extreme and ongoing mental anguish and distress” as a result.

Per court documents reviewed by PEOPLE, in October 2024, a judge issued a default judgment request for a jury trial to determine damages.
After a February hearing, Le’Veon was ordered to pay $20 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. La’Vonte was ordered to pay $11 million in compensatory damages and $50,000 in punitive damages.
“My client adamantly denies any and all allegations that have been lodged against him. Further, he was never served with a civil complaint or any documents,” Le’Veon’s attorney, Thomas W. Shaffer, said in a statement to TMZ on Tuesday.
“The default judgment granted was based upon violations of his Fifth Amendment rights of due process for failing to be served,” the statement continued. “My client is in the process of filing a motion to open and reverse the default judgment because the merits of the case have never been litigated.”
In a Twitch stream on Tuesday, March 11, Le’Veon confirmed that Jada is his cousin but denied the allegations, per TMZ. “I just found out this was brewing up maybe about two days ago,” Le’Veon said.

“Do y’all think Le’Veon Bell, do I need to force myself upon a woman? Anybody? Do I need to force myself upon them? I don’t,” the former football star said.
“I put this on my life. I put this on all my kids life, my mom’s life, I put this on everything, I never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever pushed myself on a girl when she ain’t want that s—. Never,” Le’Veon said. “I’ve never forced myself on nobody. I got my pick of the litter.”

“We believe that Le’Veon Bell was properly served with this lawsuit under Ohio law. Further, our client stands by the allegations in her lawsuit,” John Camillus, an attorney for Bell’s cousin, told PEOPLE, later adding, “We look forward to continuing to fight for our client in whatever way the case demands going forward.”

Miley Cyrus Bonds over Being ‘Cougars’ with Her Mom Tish and Sister Brandi

NEED TO KNOW
- Miley Cyrus and her sister, Brandi Cyrus, bonded with their mom, Tish Cyrus, about being in romantic relationships with partners who are younger than them
- They joked about being “cougars” during the June 19 episode of their podcast, Sorry We’re Cyrus
- Miley asked if she was considered the “landslide” of the group because of her six-year age gap with her boyfriend, Maxx Morando
Mother-daughter bonding at its finest.
Miley Cyrus joined her sister, Brandi Cyrus, and her mother, Tish Cyrus, on their Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast, where they discussed a shared dynamic in their romantic lives that they all have in common.
Miley, 32, is dating Maxx Morando, 26, Brandi, 38, is in a relationship with Matt Southcombe, 36, while Tish, 58, is married to actor Dominic Purcell, 55. Age differences between partners are what the trio referenced on the show.
“What does it say about the three of us that, technically, we are all cougars?” joked Brandi during the podcast episode released on Thursday, June 19.

The Something Beautiful artist revealed that it says “so many things” before questioning if she was “the landslide” of the group due to their age gap.
“[Maxx] will be 27 when I turn 33, which I’m so excited for him to turn 27 ‘cause that was such a great year for me,” she said. “I’m just hoping that, as long as he follows in my footsteps, everything is going to be great.”
Miley added, “That’s right when I started turning my life around.”

However, Tish — who was previously married to Billy Ray Cyrus, who adopted her kids Brandi and Trace, 36, from a past relationship — admitted that she “never” thought about being older than her husband, but was open to her perspective.
“Wait, you and Matt, at some point, [will you be] the same age?” Tish asked Brandi of her boyfriend, adding, “Cause it’s only a year.”
Southcombe, who was off-camera during the episode, playfully jumped into the conversation to correct Tish about his age.
“I’m 36 right now,” he made clear, before it then clicked for Brandi that they “won’t ever be the same age.”

Tish noted that she and Purcell are sometimes “only two years apart” in between their birthdays, despite the three-year gap at the moment.
Miley chimed in, “Me and Maxx … sometimes we’re only four [years apart] for three days. We’re only a couple of days apart.”
“He’s a Scorpio [and] so is his grandfather, that’s what makes Maxx just so cool because he can sting,” she continued. “Like, very cool [and they] think that they’re little angels until it turns around and they got a sting.”
“I couldn’t be with someone [who] doesn’t sting,” the singer admitted, adding, “They would have been toast already.”

Miley, who’s been romantically linked to Morando since December 2021, has previously opened up about their age gap in a Harper’s Bazaar cover story interview published Nov. 20 last year.
“He looks at life really differently than I do,” she told the outlet of dating someone who’s part of Generation Z. “He grew up with a laptop. I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters.”
Age-based differences aside, Miley revealed some commonalities shared between her and the Liily drummer.
“He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously,” she shared.

Ivanka Trump’s daughter borrows mom’s dress for White House visit

Ivanka Trump’s daughter went through her stylish closet to find just the right dress for a “special” White House visit.
In a family photo shared by Ivanka on Wednesday, Arabella, 13, wore her famous mom’s white Emilia Wickstead midi dress with contrasting black buttons down the front, and cap sleeves.
Arabella joined her mother, father Jared Kushner, grandparents Charles and Seryl Kushner, and brothers Joseph and Theodore in posing with President Trump to celebrate Charles’ swearing in as US ambassador to France and Monaco.
The high-profile family posed for photographers in the Oval Office as well as on the White House lawn to mark the occasion.
“A special day with the people we love!” Ivanka captioned her celebratory Instagram post.
“Today, surrounded by family, Charles Kushner was sworn in as the U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco by @potus and Secretary of State @marcorubio. Congratulations, Ambassador Charles Kushner!🇺🇸🇫🇷”
Ivanka took to Instagram Stories to share another photo at the White House with her three children. The first daughter wore a belted bright red skirt and top with strappy heels, while Joseph, 10, wore a traditional gray suit.
Theodore, 8, smiled while showing off a blue suit. Arabella parted her brunette hair down the middle and styled it long and straight.
A final Instagram Story showed Ivanka and Arabella in a mother-daughter snapshot, also taken at the White House.
Ivanka, 43, originally wore the chic frock for a 2018 White House event, pairing it with a black handbag and matching slingback heels.
It’s hardly surprising that Arabella swiped the stylish look from her mom’s closet — Ivanka is known for her classic sense of fashion.
In a past interview with mom-life site Romy & the Bunnies, Ivanka reflected on her personal style.
“My style is classic with a modern twist,” she told the site at the time.
“I like to wear pieces that are polished and chic, but I have to find looks that will transition seamlessly throughout the day among my roles as an executive, mother and a wife.”
She added, “while motherhood hasn’t changed my style, I often find myself being accessorized by Arabella these days – if you see me wearing a hot pink bow in my hair, that’s the work of my little fashionista!”
