Rebel Wilson reveals how Sacha Baron Cohen humiliated her on set
Rebel Wilson has revealed a shocking experience of on-set humiliation by her “Grimsby” co-star Sacha Baron Cohen in an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, “Rebel Rising.”
In her memoir, Wilson, known for her role in “Pitch Perfect,” describes feeling “scared” of Cohen’s repeated requests for her to do nude scenes in the movie. She recalls instances where Cohen would mention wanting her to go naked in future scenes, to which Wilson firmly stated her boundaries, saying, “Ha, I don’t do nudity, Sacha.”
Wilson goes on to detail an incident where Cohen, best known for his role in “Borat,” allegedly pulled down his pants on set and asked her to “stick your finger up my ass.” Shocked and uncomfortable, Wilson refused and compromised by slapping Cohen’s backside and improvising lines to quickly finish the scene.
Despite her discomfort, Wilson found herself having to film intimate scenes with Cohen, including simulating sex and repeated kissing scenes. She later expressed her refusal to do any promotional work for the film, citing the uncomfortable experiences on set.
Wilson emphasizes that she is not seeking to cancel anyone by sharing her story but rather hopes that speaking out will lead to fewer instances of such behavior towards women in the industry. In a recent Instagram post, Wilson named Cohen as the “massive a–hole” featured in her book and revealed that he had hired crisis PR managers and lawyers to prevent the truth from coming out.
Responding to the allegations, Cohen’s representative denied any wrongdoing, stating that Wilson was treated with respect and empowerment on set. The representative provided statements from anonymous sources associated with the film, contradicting Wilson’s claims and asserting that she was welcomed as a collaborator in all creative aspects.
Despite the backlash, Wilson stands by her allegations and refuses to be threatened, reaffirming her stance on social media. The memoir, “Rebel Rising,” is set to hit shelves on April 2, where readers can delve deeper into Wilson’s experiences and reflections on the incident.
Wilson’s courage in speaking out about her experiences sheds light on the importance of creating a safe and respectful working environment in the entertainment industry. By sharing her story, she hopes to inspire other women to speak up against mistreatment and harassment, fostering a more inclusive and supportive industry for all.
As the release of “Rebel Rising” approaches, the public eagerly anticipates the full account of Wilson’s journey and the lessons learned from her encounter with Cohen, sparking conversations about accountability and boundaries in the world of entertainment.
