The Vast Landscape of U.S. Exchange Traded Products

As of the end of March, there were 4,915 exchange-traded products (ETPs), including exchange-traded funds (ETFs), listed on U.S. exchanges. That’s a big universe, one that seemingly grows daily. That vast population also ensures some ETFs are mirror images of competing funds.

A familiar example is the landscape of market capitalization-weighted S&P 500 ETFs. The titans of this space all do the same thing: track the S&P 500, with only branding and expense ratios differing.

Such similarities are also found in the commodities ETF realm, particularly in the somewhat dense gold ETF segment, where a sizable number of funds provide investors with exposure to physical bullion. Again, the only differences are the fund issuers, fees, and, in the gold example, the issuer’s storage of the yellow metal.

Silver, often viewed as gold’s “little brother,” is part of this scenario, too. Just look at the iShares Silver Trust (NYSEMKT: SLV) and the abrdn Physical Silver Shares ETF (NYSEMKT: SIVR), both of which provide exposure to, you guessed it, physical silver. But which one is better?

Making a golden choice with silver ETFs

Enthusiasm for silver ETFs is palpable. Buoyed by rising demand for the commodity from renewable energy and data centers, silver prices surged over the past year, helping both of these silver-tracking ETFs more than double in value over that time. Adding to the white metal’s potency is the fact that demand is outstripping supply because miners can’t get enough product to market fast enough.

Indeed, there’s some good news above, but it doesn’t solve the riddle of how to choose between the iShares ETF and its Aberdeen rival (Aberdeen is the issuer and “abrdn” is a brand). Fortunately, investors, particularly those wanting to own silver for the long term, don’t have to stretch to get an answer. In comparing two ETFs that do the same thing, the deciding factor often boils down to fees.

Data confirm that, across stocks, bonds, and even gold ETFs, investors consistently and overwhelmingly lean toward the cheapest funds. If you’re in that camp, deciding between the two silver ETFs is easy. The iShares fund charges 0.5% per year, or $50 on a $10,000 investment, while its Aberdeen rival charges 0.3% annually. As the chart below indicates, those savings add up after awhile.

Joby Aviation (NYSE: JOBY), a developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, closed at a record high of $20.39 per share on Aug. 4, 2025. At the time, Joby impressed the market with its technological advantages, strong partnerships, and clear plans for commercializing its first air taxi flights. The Fed’s interest rate cuts in 2024 and 2025 also drove more investors back toward speculative, higher-growth stocks.

But as of this writing, Joby’s stock trades at less than $9 per share. Let’s see why it lost nearly 60% of its value, and if it’s worth buying as a contrarian bet on the nascent eVTOL market.

Joby’s S4 eVTOL carries one pilot and four passengers, travels up to 150 miles on a single charge, and achieves a maximum speed of 200 miles per hour. To reduce drag, it uses single-tilt-rotor propellers that alternate between lifting and cruising modes. That key difference enables the S4 to travel faster and farther than Archer Aviation‘s (NYSE: ACHR) Midnight, which uses separate propellers for its lifting and cruising modes.

Joby, Archer, and other eVTOL makers aim to replace conventional helicopters in short-range air taxi routes. Joby has already attracted significant attention from prominent investors, including Toyota (NYSE: TM), Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL), and Uber (NYSE: UBER).

Uber, one of Joby’s earliest investors, will integrate Joby’s eVTOL rides into its ride-hailing app into its new service, Uber Air, once the regulators approve its first commercial flights. Toyota has been ramping up its investments in Joby to support the certification and commercialization of those air taxis. Delta, Virgin Atlantic, All Nippon Airways, and other airline companies plan to bundle Joby’s flights into their tickets as premium last-mile “airport to home” services.

The global eVTOL market could grow at a 36.8% CAGR from 2026 to 2034, according to Fortune Business Insights. Assuming Joby stays at the top of this booming market, analysts expect its revenue to rise from $53 million in 2025 to $459 million in 2028.

That outlook seems bright, but Joby hasn’t cleared its two most important regulatory hurdles yet. First, it’s unclear when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will approve the Type Certification for its first commercial flights. Some analysts expect that to happen by the end of this year or early 2027, but any delays could force them to slash their near-term estimates. Second, Joby originally planned to launch its first commercial flights in Dubai by the end of this year. It’s still officially sticking to that schedule, but the ongoing Middle East conflict could delay those plans and prompt analysts to reduce their revenue forecasts for the year.

As Joby grapples with those challenges, the macro headwinds are intensifying. Inflation is driving up costs and sparking fears that the Fed will raise rates rather than cut them. It’s still deeply unprofitable, and its share count has already risen by more than 60% since it went public via a merger with a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on Aug. 11, 2021. That dilution could accelerate over the next few years as it scales its business.

With a market cap of $8.3 billion, Joby’s stock isn’t cheap at 18 times its 2028 sales. Archer, which faces the same regulatory headwinds, trades at just 8 times its 2028 sales. Therefore, any bad news could easily cut Joby’s stock in half again — and it still wouldn’t be considered a bargain relative to its near-term growth potential.

Joby arguably has a brighter future than Archer and its smaller eVTOL competitors. But without a clearer timeline for its FAA certification and its first commercial flights in Dubai, it’s impossible to tell if it can match Wall Street’s bullish forecasts. I’d be willing to nibble on Joby’s stock at these levels, since it’s still the “best in breed” play on the emerging eVTOL market, but I wouldn’t make a bigger investment unless it makes meaningful progress toward those near-term goals.

Bronny James scores first NBA playoff points, with some help from LeBron, in Lakers’ win over Rockets

For three straight games, Bronny James has received some minutes at the start of the second quarter for the Los Angeles Lakers in their first-round series against the Houston Rockets.

He made them count in Game 3, with some help from his father.

The eldest son of LeBron James scored his first career playoff points with a pull-up 3-pointer and a layup in transition on back-to-back possessions. He got support from his father on both baskets, with LeBron boxing out defender Jae’Sean Tate to give him oxygen for the 3-pointer, then getting the assist on the layup.

‘Yellowstone’ fans are disappointed Luke Grimes is ‘not a real cowboy’

“Yellowstone” and “Marshalls” star Luke Grimes admitted that the show’s dedicated fans are occasionally annoyed things aren’t “real.”

When asked by Toronto radio station CHUM 104.5 what the “strangest” thing fans tell him, he said it’s a mix of things, including some have “loved that show so much that they were, on a certain level, upset that it wasn’t real.”

“Like, they were so obsessed,” he told continued. “A lot of times you’ll get the, ‘You’re not a real cowboy.'”

“Well, of course I’m not, I’m an actor,” Grimes said. “That’s why I’m able to do this. If I was a real cowboy, I’d be, like, herding cattle right now. I wouldn’t be on this show.”

Like many fans, Grimes’ time on “Yellowstone” did inspire him and his wife to relocate their family to Montana.

But he revealed on “The Joe Rogan Experience” that some long-time residents are “not happy” with the influx of people to the state.

“The valley that I live in, we had some people come visit us,” he said. “Our friends from California drove out, and we went on a hike, and we were in their car. And they had, you know, Cali plates. We get off the hike, and someone had written ‘go back’ in the dust on their car.”

Grimes continued, “People are super weird about it. So I don’t tell anyone exactly where I’m at because they would get really mad at me.”

The actor said he actually avoids going out “‘cause whatever that one idiot is, is at the bar, and he can’t wait to start a fight with me. Just, like, can’t wait to do it because it’s like a win-win for him, you know? He gets to sue me or something. I don’t know, but it’s a lose-lose for me.”

But Grimes isn’t bothered, saying, “I have no FOMO about anything anymore,” he said. “I can just think and sleep and read and watch films and it’s the best.”
