Sam Gardiner, a former Race Across the World contestant, has died following a car crash. He was 24.
Gardiner was driving a white Volkswagen in Manchester, England, on Monday, May 26, at around 9:50 p.m. local time when the car veered off the road and “rolled before landing on its side,” the Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.
Gardiner was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to life-threatening injuries on Thursday, May 29.
He was the only passenger of the vehicle, per the police.
“His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers,” police said in a separate statement.

Gardiner’s parents, Jo and Andrew, wrote that they are “devastated” in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
“Sam left us far too soon, and whilst words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special,” they said. “Sam was adored by his family. As a son, brother and nephew, he was loyal, funny and fiercely protective.”
The grieving parents remembered his time on the BBC reality show, saying it “opened his eyes to the wonder of adventure and travel.”
They continued, “He was willing to go wherever the trail might lead and he touched everyone he met on the road. He found great happiness working as a landscape gardener on the west coast of Scotland.”
Jo and Andrew added: “Sam brought warmth, laughter and a smattering of chaos wherever he went. He leaves behind a huge hole in our hearts. We will miss him endlessly, but we’ll also remember him with smiles, tall tales, and a depth of love that will never fade.”
Gardiner had been working as a landscape gardener in Scotland, but was visiting his family in Manchester at the time of his death.
He starred in season 2 of Race Across the World alongside his mother.
“There will be a private funeral for family and friends in due course. The family have asked for privacy at this terrible time,” a spokesperson for Race Across the World said in a statement.
The spokesperson paid tribute to Gardiner, writing, “We are all deeply saddened to hear the tragic news about Sam. Everyone who worked with him, and indeed everyone who watched Sam, could see just how precious and transformative the trip was for both him and his mum Jo.”

Gardiner “embraced the seven-week trip with an energy, love and a determination that saw the pair enjoy adventures across Mexico to Argentina, making audiences fall in love with them and their special bond as a result,” the spokesperson said.
The tribute continued: “Since filming, both Sam and Jo have been an integral part of the Race Across the World cast family and on behalf of us all from the BBC, production and the rest of the cast, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to his parents, Andrew and Jo; his brothers, William and Charlie; his step mum Justine; his family and friends.”

The show featured Gardiner — who was 19 at the time — and his mother as they traveled across South America with no phones.
While previously speaking to the BBC ahead of taking part in the show, Jo said she wanted to teach her son, who had ADHD, how to travel before he embarked on adventures of his own.
“My son and I get on so well, and he is desperate to travel, but I’m nervous of him going off on his own. I want the trip to help him grow, and see how the world works,” she said. “To watch him experience this will be fantastic. He’s come such a long way, and I would love to see him achieve his dreams.”
Gardiner also shared his excitement about spending quality time with his mom. “Mum and I are very close — we often think or say the same things. She has traveled a lot in her life, so I think it would be fun to do it with her. She always seems to get things right, she can speak to people and fix things. She’s amazing,” he said at the time.
Gardiner is survived by his parents, stepmother Justine, and brothers Charlie and William.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce put wedding guests on lockdown with ‘ironclad’ NDA: report

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story includes an NDA.
Ahead of the couple’s upcoming nuptials, TMZ reported on Saturday that guests who received a wedding invite are required to sign a ironclad non-disclosure agreement before receiving any details about the big day.
Insiders added that when a guest confirms their attendance, they are then sent the NDA link.
Anyone attending is prohibited from sharing details about the wedding and will be penalized if violations occur. Those consequences, however, were not disclosed to TMZ.
Page Six reached out to a rep for Swift for comment.
Karlie Kloss, Zoë Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, Suki Waterhouse, the Haim sisters, Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez are among A-listers who have reportedly received invites.
Page Six recently confirmed that Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Sperry, were left off the list after a falling out.
Multiple sources told Page Six earlier this month that Swift and Kelce, both 36, are set to tie the knot at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
“Everyone’s been sworn to secrecy,” said one source.
Page Six previously exclusively reported that the Grammy winner and football player’s special day will take place in New York over July 3 weekend.
A source explained that “privacy was of number one importance to them both.”
The insider added that the potential plan could have guests arriving to the venue on blacked-out buses.
Another source stated: “If you have billions you can transform the space into a wedding venue.”
The venue currently has no events scheduled from June 29 through July 6.
In the weeks leading up to their wedding, Swift and Kelce have been spotted out on the town together on multiple occasions.
They dined at several NYC hotspots last month, including Or’esh and Via Carota.
That same month, Kelce and Swift were also spotted at a Knicks game in New York.
On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs tight-end joined the “Lover” singer at her Songwriters Hall of Fame induction.
The couple, got engaged in August 2025, with Kelce popping the question to the pop star in the garden of his Leawood, Kansas, home after two years of dating.

Katy Perry sparkles in silver for World Cup 2026 opening ceremony performance

Katy Perry kicked off the 2026 World Cup with a bang.
She brought the energy at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles for the tournament’s opening ceremony Friday night, wearing a silver Stella McCartney FW26 Ready-to-Wear dress.
The floor-length dress featured an exaggerated waistline and was constructed with what appears to be long strands of tinsel — perhaps a nod to Tinseltown, the home of this year’s competition.
The pop star performed her song “Wonder,” off her 2024 album “143.”
Perry wasn’t alone for the performance — as she chose to share the worldwide stage with a special guest.
The day before she took to the stage, Perry shared a TikTok video introducing the world to Tius, a 10-year-old boy from Norway.
“That little voice you’re listening to right now is Tius,” she wrote alongside the clip as a young voice can be heard singing.
“Tius recorded his part on ‘Wonder’ when he was 5 years old in 2021. I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for ‘Wonder’ and added it to my sixth album,” she explained. “Tius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me on Friday at the World Cup ✨⚽.”
Perry opened the star-studded number, which also included Tyla, Anitta and more.
The US intro is one of three opening ceremonies by the host countries, with Shakira headlining in Mexico City on Thursday and Alanis Morrisette, Michael Bublé and more in Canada Friday afternoon.
While performing on behalf of the United States, Perry also has connections up north after going public with her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in December.
Since then, her “Teenage Dream”-era wardrobe has become decidedly more subdued, especially for public political events — but she brought back her pop star ways for her on-stage performance Friday night.
The couple made their red carpet debut earlier this week, when Trudeau accompanied her to the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new concert movie.
The pair, who have been together for nearly a year, weren’t shy and showed tons of PDA for the cameras, hugging during the viewing of “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live From Paris.”
We’ll see what team the California native roots for throughout the tournament.

David Faustino gives update on Christina Applegate’s ‘very hard’ MS battle

David Faustino, who played Christina Applegate’s brother in “Married… With Children,” revealed the actress still has her signature humor as she battles multiple sclerosis.
“It’s been very hard for her, but she does keep her humor,” Faustino said in a new interview with US Weekly, calling Applegate’s MS diagnosis “a real blow.”
Faustino, 52, said Applegate, 54, has had a “dry, sarcastic sense of humor since the moment I met her,” and despite her serious health battle that left her recently hospitalized, “nothing has changed.”
The “Dead to Me” star is still “extremely sarcastic” and “extremely dry,” Faustino confirmed.
“She gets through this with some humor, and that’s kind of her way that she moves through it,” the voice actor explained, noting he’s been “a support” to Applegate since she announced her diagnosis in June 2021.
Faustino also confirmed he’s in regular contact with the Emmy Award winner.
“I do a lot of visits with her. A lot of texting, a lot of checking in,” he said. “A lot of funny just crap that we talk about. And that’s all I can do, right? Give her my love.”
He added, “We do have deep convos when we sit. But we also keep the laughter [going] as well.”
Applegate and Faustino played siblings Kelly and Bud Bundy, respectively, in “Married… With Children.”
The sitcom, which aired on Fox from 1987 to 1997, also starred Ed O’Neill and Katey Sagal as their parents, Al and Peggy Bundy.
Applegate gave an update on her health in April after she was hospitalized in Los Angeles.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and well wishes. Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day,” she wrote on Instagram.
“I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough,” the “You With the Sad Eyes” author added.
Applegate’s rep wouldn’t confirm if the actress was hospitalized due to her autoimmune disease.
“I have no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are,” the rep told Page Six in a statement on April 16. “She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”
In February, Applegate revealed she’s been confined to her bed due to ongoing pain, but she still tries to take her 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, to school.
“I want to take her; it’s my favorite thing to do. It’s the only time we have together by ourselves,” the “Friends” star explained.
“I tell myself, ‘Just get her there safely and get home so you can get back into bed.’ And that’s what I do,’” she added.
