NEED TO KNOW
- Peacemaker actress Jennifer Holland opens up about the work-life balance in her relationship with series creator James Gunn — or, lack thereof
- “I know that his number one focus right now at this time in his life has been taking on this opportunity that he has at DC with 100% full force,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively
- Holland stars as Emilia Harcourt on Peacemaker alongside John Cena
Jennifer Holland is opening up about sharing husband James Gunn with the DC Universe.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Peacemaker season 2 red carpet premiere at AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York City on Wednesday, Aug. 13, Holland, 37, admits there’s “very little” work-life balance in her marriage with Gunn, 59, who serves as creator, writer and showrunner of the hit HBO Max series.
“I’ve not been, in any way, upset or judgmental with James, but I know that his number one focus right now at this time in his life has been taking on this opportunity that he has at DC with 100% full force,” she says.
“I think he’s doing that with just every ounce of his being, and he wants to make sure that it’s everything that the fans could hope for,” she continues.

Holland has a front-row seat to everything Gunn is doing both at home and at work, as she stars as Emilia Harcourt in Peacemaker.
The actress admits that while Gunn is striving to put the fans first with his efforts with the DCU (he wrote and directed the recent Superman film, which came out in July), she says she knows that “you’re always going to disappoint some people, that’s just the way it is.”
“But if anyone could get a little piece of an insider view of what it’s like, he just wants to do the characters justice, and he just wants to give it what it deserves for all of these people who’ve lived with these characters in these comics that they’ve been reading [and] the characters that they created in their brains and everything,” Holland explains.
“He’s very committed to making it the best that he’s able to make it,” she adds.
Holland also praised Gunn’s work on Peacemaker.
“We’re all just doing our best to service the story, and so it was just an incredible experience,” she notes about herself, Gunn and Peacemaker star John Cena.
Speaking specifically of Cena, Holland gushes, “I couldn’t have asked for a better, more professional partner than John in this whole ride from season 1 to season 2, honestly.”

Addressing her character specifically, she says that while “a lot of the characters are evolving,” Emilia is “kind of devolving in a way, so you get to see a different side of Harcourt.”
“You get to see a couple of different sides of Harcourt, actually,” she teases.

Holland and Gunn’s love story goes back a full decade.
The couple first started dating in July 2015. Gunn marked the 10th anniversary of their first date last month with a sweet tribute on social media, calling Holland “without a doubt the best thing that ever happened to me.” They tied the knot in October 2022.
Holland has also appeared in numerous films directed by Gunn, including 2021’s The Suicide Squad, 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and 2025’s Superman in an uncredited role.
The actress also starred in the 2019 film Brightburn, which Gunn produced.
Peacemaker season 2 premieres Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max.

Harry Styles hits back at ‘queerbaiting’ claims — by kissing male comedian during ‘SNL’ monologue

Harry Styles hit back at claims that he is “queerbaiting” by kissing comedian Ben Marshall during the singer’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue.
“Back then, people seemed to pay a lot of attention to the clothes I was wearing and some people accused me of something called ‘queerbaiting,’” the former One Direction singer said of the claims, which is defined as using queer aesthetics without identifying as LGBTQ+.
“But did it ever occur to you: You don’t know everything about me, Dad!” he added.
Styles, 32, said he was “tremendously boring” and that “people pretend to find that [his hobbies] interesting” because he’s a celebrity.
“It’s better than the alternative,” the pop star joked, as the screen showed the infamous paparazzi snap of ex-Prince Andrew after he was released from jail last month for his connections to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Styles said he was “happy” to be back at work with his new album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.”
“What’s better than kissing all the time? Which I don’t actually do — I don’t kiss all the time,” he said, as comedian Chloe Fineman appeared behind the Watermelon Sugar” before leaving in disappointment.
“Sometimes, kissing can be great,” Styles added, “you know, if you’re really good at it, and you’re a good person,” as comedian Sarah Sherman appeared and then walked off.
“Or if you have a tight little bum,” the “Late Night Talking” crooner continued, as Marshall, 30, walked onstage.
After the comedian and Styles joked about Marshall’s “wagon back there,” they turned to each other and shared a kiss on the lips.
“Now that’s queerbaiting,” the three-time Grammy said with a wink.
In 2022, Styles slammed the “queerbaiting” claims after fans noticed that he only publicly dated women — including Oliva Wilde, Taylor Swift and now Zoë Kravitz.
“I don’t think I’ve publicly been with anyone,” he told Rolling Stone at the time. “If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re choosing to have a public relationship or something.”

Zendaya makes surprise Las Vegas wedding appearance

Zendaya crashed a Las Vegas wedding while promoting her latest movie, further fueling rumors she’s already married to Tom Holland.
In clips circulating via social media, the “Euphoria” actress attended a wedding at one of Sin City’s iconic wedding chapels on Saturday, sneaking into a side door to gasps from attendees.
She also signed the happy couple’s wedding certificate as a witness and posed with the newlyweds following the nuptials.
During her appearance to promote her upcoming wedding-themed movie “The Drama,” she also posed in front of the chapel — prominently displaying what appeared to be a simple gold wedding band.
The “Challengers” star wore a gold corset style top for the appearance with a ruffled tier skirt, finishing the look with brown stiletto heels.
A rep for the actress did not immediately return page Six’s request for comment.
Neither her co-star in the film, Robert Pattinson, nor Holland appeared to have joined her for the Vegas appearance, which comes two weeks after her stylist, Law Roach, claimed she and the “Spider-Man” star have already tied the knot.
“The wedding has already happened,” Roach told Access Hollywood at SAG’s Actor Awards on March 1. “You missed it.”
When questioned if the claim was “true,” he replied, “It’s very true.”
Zendaya’s mom, Claire Stoermer, later cast doubt with a cryptic Instagam upload, seemingly saying Roach’s claim was a joke — though the “Dune” actress’s promotional photoshoot once again sparked rumors.
She wore what appeared to be a gold wedding band seemingly stacked with her engagement ring from Holland in photos released by A24 earlier this month for “The Drama,” which is set to drop April 3.
Meanwhile, the couple’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” co-star, Liza Colón-Zayas, dropped a pointed social media message, tagging the couple in a re-post of an item about them being married.
The actress subsequently wore bridal white to a Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week and at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards earlier this week — both times quietly wearing rings on her left ring finger.
Though she has yet to confirm the alleged nuptials outright, she appeared to fan the flames at Thursday’s awards ceremony in Los Angeles.
In footage obtained by People, host Marsai Martin joked onstage that the actress should “just give a little nod or signal” when she should send a wedding gift.
Zendaya subsequently held both hands up in front of her face, showing off her rings, as the crowd erupted in cheers. “We’ll talk after the show,” Martin quipped.

Queen Camilla told friend Meghan Markle ‘brainwashed’ Harry amid royal family feud, new book claims

Queen Camilla privately told a friend that Meghan Markle had “brainwashed” Prince Harry amid the royal family’s feud, according to a bombshell new book.
Author Tom Bower claims the remark came as relations between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal clan hit boiling point shortly after their lavish nuptials at St George’s Chapel in 2018.
The glamorous wedding in Windsor was followed by a Mediterranean honeymoon, but behind palace walls, the honeymoon period was already over.
According to Bower, whose new book is serialized in The Times, things turned ugly soon after the newlyweds returned to Britain.
A tense showdown between Harry and his older brother Prince William reportedly spiraled out of control, with Markle snapping at her brother-in-law during the confrontation.
“If you don’t mind, get your finger out of my face,” the “Suits” actress allegedly shot back at William during the explosive exchange, according to Bower.
Queen Camilla then allegedly vented to a friend with a blunt verdict: Markle had “brainwashed” Harry.
William reportedly already warned his younger brother that the whirlwind romance was moving too fast, Bower reported, citing sources.
“It’s gone too quickly,” he reportedly told Harry about his relationship with Markle.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, allegedly shared the same concerns, believing Harry might be vulnerable to Markle’s influence.
Bower also claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex felt lingering resentment about their place in the royal pecking order — forever destined to be “spares” rather than heirs.
According to the author, Harry eventually became “possessed by seeking revenge.”
The simmering tensions ultimately led to the Sussexes’ dramatic royal exit.
In 2020, Harry and Markle stepped down as senior working royals and left the UK, launching what critics called an all-out media offensive against the monarchy.
From their explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey to Harry’s tell-all memoir “Spare” in 2023, the couple repeatedly aired grievances about palace life.
The duke also stunned viewers with a headline-grabbing interview with the BBC that included more thinly veiled swipes at the royal family.
But there may finally be light at the end of the palace tunnel.
Harry could extend an olive branch by inviting his father, King Charles, to open the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, according to The Sun.
The father and son have had only two brief meetings in recent years, but the invite could see them standing side-by-side on stage as Harry fulfills a longtime dream of having the King launch the event.
Meanwhile, Markle is dealing with fresh headaches of her own.
Last week, Page Six exclusively revealed that Netflix ended its partnership with her lifestyle brand As Ever.
An industry insider told Page Six the collaboration no longer made sense after her planned series “With Love, Markle” failed to move forward.
Still, Markle’s team insists the brand is moving full steam ahead, saying it’s now “ready to stand on its own” with “an exciting year ahead.”
Next up for Markle? A luxury women’s retreat in Australia — where fans can pay up to $2,288 for VIP access.
The pricey getaway will coincide with Harry and Markle’s upcoming Australian tour, which is expected to include private meetings, business appearances and philanthropic events.
And if history’s any guide, the royal drama is far from over.
