Prince William and Kate Middleton disclose the percentage of their staff who are ethnic minorities

Prince William and Kate Middleton have made significant efforts to promote diversity within their staff, as revealed in a recent report.

Newsweek reports that the royal couple’s household employs 66 people, with about 14 percent (nine individuals) coming from ethnic minority backgrounds.

The report also highlights that 67 percent of the staff are female, while the remaining 33 percent are male.

According to the Sovereign Grant report quoted by Newsweek, work has been ongoing to support the royal household’s inclusion and diversity strategy, aiming to enhance representation and foster an inclusive culture across all teams.

In comparison, Buckingham Palace has set a target to have 14 percent of staff members from ethnic minority groups by 2025.

For King Charles III’s royal household, the data shows that 11.4 percent of staff members are from ethnic backgrounds.

The report also indicates an average pay gap of 3.9 percent for ethnic background employees compared to their white counterparts, while the gender pay gap stands at 2.2 percent with 53 percent of the staff being female.

Representatives for Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

This report comes in the wake of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ foundation pledging in 2021 to focus more on diversity.

The 2020 trustees’ report affirms the Royal Foundation’s commitment to equality and diversity, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment for all stakeholders.

In their revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan Markle disclosed that members of the royal family had expressed concern about the skin color of her son, Archie. Prince Harry affirmed it was not Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip who made these comments.

“That conversation I’m never going to share, but at the time, it was awkward; I was a bit shocked,” said the Duke of Sussex during the interview.
